An employee of a well-known Bluewater Bay business was robbed at gunpoint at the traffic lights in Hillcrest Drive this morning. The robber got away with her mobile phone.
She was treated for shock when she arrived at work. The employee was then taken to SAPS Swartkops to lay a charge.
The attack was caught on one of the cameras that are part of an initiative launched by Craig Hendricks of iPatrol last year, Copies of the video have been forwarded to SAPS.
This is yet another example of the value of the cameras. The cameras have already proved their worth in the identification of vehicles involved in the hijacking that recently took place in the suburb and the robbery of Pep Stores. In addition to this, the cameras also assisted in apprehending the thieves that broke into the electricity substation in Aloes.
Residents are reminded to report all crime to SAPS Swartkops. The reports go into statistics that are used to allocate budgets for staffing and equipment, such as patrol vehicles. It is in everyone’s interest to report crime – no matter how small.
