Woman kidnapped in BWB hijack drama found safe but traumatised

The woman that was kidnapped in a hijacking drama on the N2 near Bluewater Bay after leaving a house in Amsterdamhoek has been found safe but traumatised.

At this stage it is not yet known whether there have been any arrests or whether her motor vehicle has been recovered.

Amsterdamhoek Road was a hive of activity this morning as investigations into a hijacking that took place at around 8 o’clock this morning got underway.

The Echo understands that a woman, who had been visiting local residents in Amsterdamhoek Road, drove off in her grey motor vehicle followed by the alleged hijackers who were in a white bakkie.  She was then hijacked along the N2 highway and taken towards Motherwell.

The road, along the banks of the Swartkops River was flooded with police, detectives and security personnel who interviewed residents and put out requests to for any video footage that could be available.

It was not long before Amsterdamhoek Road residents were able to come forward with their video footage which was complemented by footage from a camera that was put up as part of the Neighbourhood Watch/iPatrol initiative.

It was reported that police and detectives were searching for the hijacked woman and the hijackers in Motherwell.

Full credit must go the SAPS, the detectives, security and all of those involved in finding the woman, including residents and Neighbourhood Watch/iPatrol who supplied video footage of the incident.
