Robbers struck in BWB this morning

At least one burglary and one attempted break-in occurred in Bluewater Bay in the early hours today.

In the first incident, a television was stolen from the Sinclair home in Maureen Circle. Jenny Sinclair says the thief, or thieves, were very quiet and the first the family knew about the robbery was when they awoke this morning.  Jenny believes the break-in occurred between 2am and 4 am.

“I did not hear a sound,” said Jenny.  She said although she was fine, the incident had left her stressed.

In the second incident, the home of the Saayman’s in Himeville Drive was attacked.  Monica Saayman says the robbers first tried breaking into their garage but had no luck as security on the garage doors has been beefed up following numerous robbery attempts.

Monica says the thief or thieves then turned their attention to one of the family’s two Wendy houses. The intruders had taken a paving stone to break a lock on the door, causing an enormous bang.  “It sounded like a bomb,” she said.  This alerted the family’s Rottweiler.  The dog started barking loudly and ran out to investigate along with the owners.

This spooked the intruders who fled, leaping over a two metre high wall and were nowhere to be seen as Monica and her husband checked the rest of the property.
