Four armed robbers hit Pep Stores in Bluewater Bay’s N2 Shopping Centre at 11h25 today and walked out with thousands of rands worth of cellphones.

A person, who did not want to be named. told the Echo an alert customer of the shop followed the robbers and took pictures of their getaway vehicle which included the registration number.

The details were passed on to SAPS who arranged a warm welcome for the brazen bandits when they arrived back at the home of the car-owner a short while later.  The stolen goods were recovered, and all four robbers were taken into custody.

This is the third time this year that Pep Stores has been robbed.

Johnny de Jager, Pep Stores Area Manager was there to show support to the staff.  He declined to comment on the incident.

Only last week, a number of residents in Bluewater Bay complained about the lack of security at the N2 Shopping Centre after an incident at one of the ATMs.  Most of those that complained, blamed the owners and management of the complex.

The Echo has reached out to the managers of the complex regarding the security situation but has not received any response as yet.
