With a rendition of Hark the Herald Angels Sing, 75 carol singers began their walk along Amsterdamhoek Road last night, stopping in front of houses and shaking collection tins to raise money for the Children’s Feeding Trust.
A jubilant Carols by Candlelight orgainser, Jenny Rump, said this was a record turnout for the event which has been a tradition of the Zwartkops Conservancy for 57 years!
Besides the fun and Christmas cheer experienced by all, Jenny said the Carols by Candlelight in Redhouse and Bluewater Bay, had netted more than R3,000 in donations towards the Children’s Feeding Trust.
Louis Beyers and his crew delighted the crowds with a brightly lit Bluewater Bay Surf Lifesaving Club surfboat that followed the procession from start to finish despite a 36km per hour easterly wind and rowing against an outgoing tide!
