About BWB Echo

Bluewater Bay Echo was started in October 2023 but only officially launched on 25 November 2023.

The online publication will carry both local and international news but will place priority on news affecting Bluewater Bay and surrounding areas including Redhouse, Colchester, Perseverance, Markman and the Coega IDZ.

The Editor is David Bamber, a seasoned print and broadcast journalist. David started his career in journalism on The Citizen in Johannesburg, becoming Industrial Editor before being promoted to Mining Editor. After this, he joined The Star as Mining Editor before being promoted to London as European Financial Correspondent for the Argus Group of Newspapers.

On returning to South Africa, he joined Personal Finance as Deputy Editor and later again moved back to London where he became Editor of International Personal Finance.

He again returned to South Africa to take up a position with SABC Radio and TV and was promoted to Economics Editor.

In 1991 he returned to London where he freelanced for Radio Sonder Grense (RSG), International Community Radio Taipei (ICRT) and Sake Rapport. He was also a registered artist with BBC World Service.

David finally returned to South Africa in 1999 and settled in Bluewater Bay, a suburb of Gqeberha (formerly known as Port Elizabeth) from where he continued to be editor of Investing Abroad Magazine until 2018. He also spent four years publishing a community newspaper: Bluewater Chronicle until 2014.
